About Dr. Bellin

Founder of the Tekuma Recovery Group

Dr. Bellin, the founder of the Tekuma Recovery Group, is a graduate and former faculty member of the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. He completed his undergraduate work in political science at Dartmouth College and then studied medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles.

Dr. Bellin completed his medical internship at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, followed by a psychiatric residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Community Psychiatry at the Bronx Psychiatric Center and a second fellowship in Family Therapy at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center under the supervision of Dr. Salvador Minuchin. With Dr. Minuchin and other colleagues, he founded the Family Studies Center of New York City. Dr. Bellin also served as Clinical Director of the Bronx Psychiatric Center, the major receiving New York State psychiatric hospital in that borough with clinical services including drug addiction treatment and alcohol addiction treatment for those with dual diagnosis.

For eleven years after leaving State service, Dr. Bellin served as Associate Psychiatrist at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut. He treated patients in every department of that hospital including its detoxification, drug rehab, alcohol treatment, dual diagnosis, acute care, and residential units.

Dr. Bellin has trained and supervised numerous Israeli clinicians who specialize in residential drug and alcohol treatment in Israel. Some of these clinicians maintain significant collaborative relationships with Dr. Bellin and Tekuma Recovery Group.

Finally, Dr. Bellin maintains private clinics practicing general psychiatry in both Israel and in the United States.
