The women’s program is located in the city of Haifa, Israel. The cultural, educational and employment resources of Haifa are integrated into each woman’s treatment plan by matching those resources to each resident’s specific desires, needs and talents.
A significant part of the treatment occurs around residents’ actual experiences dealing with the daily conflicts and challenges of city life. These experiences are discussed and analyzed by other female residents and by the supervising professional staff within the safe confines of the residential community.
This living urban laboratory is organized by women for women. The resulting therapeutic and learning experiences that occur there reflect the full range of a woman’s unique struggles with addiction, alcoholism and eating disorders triggered by her immersion in everyday urban life. After having practiced her recovery skills in Israel, she will be better equipped to confidently employ those same skills when she finally returns home.
